This year, i decided to celebrate my little country with pride and what better way to do it than with home-made Belgian chocolate truffles to distribute and having a nice belgian beer at the Belgian Beer Café! We even had typical belgian weather to accompany the lot! ;)
Me being very excited to finally try out this truffle recipe i've been wanting to try out for aaages! :D
The recipe called for 50 truffles, i made about 150... i think i made them a bit smaller than i was supposed to, but that just allowed me to distribute to more people :)
The kitchen turned into a real little chocolate workshop for 1 night :)
Me and Lies (friend of friends) going home with belgian cloured balloons from the Belgian Beer Café :) fun to have another belgian to celebrate with, especially one that studied maths in Leuven the year after i left... so she knows all the people i studied with there my first year!!! Ah, once again, it's a small small World! ;)

Kangooroo Island and Adelaide Hills
Once again, I get to experience to good side of being a lucky PhD student, being in between two fields I get to present my work at conferences in both fields :D and lucky me, conferences are always at exotic locations :) This time around, an astronomy conference in Adelaide! Ok, ok... not that exotic... buuut extending the weekend after the conference by two days, does bring me to Kangooroo Island just South of Adelaide, one of the best places to see Australian wildlife! and beautiful landscapes and a day to the Adelaide Hills to taste some wines, a must do when you're over there as Adelaide is just surrounded by vineyards! Producing succulent beverages that should be tasted!
My passport for the fun and exploring the different corners of Australia: Work and my conference posters ;) (sorry, the picture is a bit blurry... :( )
and Adelaide is not that boring really, quite nice little city, with a beautiful botanical garden!
but enough about this, let's get to the good part, Kangooroo Island!
Our first viewpoint on the island
Our first animal viewing stop: Seal Bay and Australian seals, cuuute :) & funny! :)
But what I REALLY was waiting for, was this:
YES! MY FIRST KOALA!!! WOUHOUOUOU!!!! I LOVE THEM!!! and awake! yesss :D
I don't know how they do not fall out of trees...
Some more exotic animals :)
Road to the Admirable Rocks
The travel budies under the eagle shaped rock, part of the Admirable Rocks, very cool, but very windy! Me, Niyas, Iza and Tomek :)
Being wicked in front of our wicked campervan we travelled around with and slept in for the 3 days (me, Niyas, Tomek and Iza)
Walking back to the van from Admiral's Arch, plenty of lighthouses on the island
A never ending change of clouds, rain and sunshine, does set place for some beautiful sceneries :)
Kingscote Bay as our last stop before catching the ferry back to the mainland. Some already know what they'll be having for dinner...
Back in Adelaide, we head to the Adelaide Hills before catching our flight, visiting the Pennfolds winery on our way, touring the estate and its caves
Heaven?
No wine tour is complete without tasting the product, right? :) and we seem to have it all under control! Smell, taste & observe! ;)
Happy Iza and Tomek
